Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for The Opportunity Fund?
Individuals, families and children whose financial circumstances make them unable to pay the full fee for membership or program participation.

How does the YMCA determine how much I pay?
The program has been developed so that each family or individual will contribute as much as they can afford. The amount of assistance depends on your total household income and the number of people in your family.

Is it possible to join the YMCA for free?
One of the YMCA values is self-sufficiency. We believe the YMCA experience has more value if you pay a portion of the monthly fee.

If I receive support through the YMCA Opportunity Fund, what is expected of me?
All information you provide will be kept confidential. You are expected to complete your payments and to use your membership regularly.

How do I pay for my Membership or Programs?
You will pay for your first month when you join, and payment must be arranged for the remaining months. Pre-authorized chequing VISA and MC are all accepted. Memberships made possible through the YMCA Financial Assistance program are approved for 1 to 6 months. It is necessary to reapply with another interview to renew your membership.
