ABOUT THE Y
VOLUNTEERS
Click here to download the Volunteer application form.
Volunteers are individuals who reach out beyond the confines of
their paid employment and of their normal responsibilities to contribute
time and service to a non profit cause in the belief that their
activity is beneficial to others as well as satisfying to themselves.
The YMCA is Volunteers!
- Volunteers are the backbone of our organization.
- Without them we could not provide our community with the extensive
services and programs currently offered.
- Volunteers provide essential assistance in the administration
of each branch, serve on committees and work with staff to meet
the needs of our members/participants.
Who is a YMCA Volunteer?
- A YMCA volunteer is anyone who is committed to providing valuable
services to our members/participants.
- There are generally four roles undertaken by YMCA volunteers:
POLICY VOLUNTEERS: sit on the Board of Directors and
its Committees and are those responsible for determining policy,
monitoring and evaluating the work of the YMCA of Wood Buffalo.
ADVISORY VOLUNTEERS: are YMCA members who work as a
committee to advise management.
PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS: function as instructors or leaders
of groups, classes or teams. Program volunteers work with staff
to deliver quality programs, activities and services to participants.
SERVICE VOLUNTEERS: are those who undertake roles in
member services, operations, communications or funds development.
