FITNESS PROGRAMS

Whether you’re just beginning, or fitness is part of your lifestyle, the YMCA offers a broad range of fitness programs including: beginner step, power pace, water fitness, sport leagues, martial arts, squash, fitness leader certification and specialty classes.

Yoga

  • Julie Funk come to us from the Upper Rooms Studio. She has several years of experience with yoga and pilates. Her class is for all levels and assists individuals with their short and long term fitness goals. Yoga not only helps will flexibility but also creates a stress-free environment to achieve a fit body.

Body Composition

  • Are you interested in knowing your percent body composition……The fitness staff are offering testing. Our staff are certified and trained. The testing will be performed on a one-on one basis.
  • Members: $10.70 Non-members: $16.05
  • To book an appointment indicate your name, number and a time that fits your schedule.

Learn To Run

  • Interested in running? Join Our Learn-To-Run Program. The learn-to-run program is designed to start a beginner with a training guide.

Teen Weight Training

  • Learn how to safely and effectively utilize weight lifting as a form of physical activity. This 6 hour course is required for all teens 13-15 years of age who wish to use the equipment within the fitness centre.

Personal Training

  • Through working with one of our personal trainers, an exercise program will be designed to help you achieve your specific health and fitness goals. Injury prevention, weight loss, increased muscle mass, enhanced sport performance, and improved health are all goals that a trainer can help you achieve.

Sport Leagues
Volleyball

  • The YMCA offers two separate co-ed volleyball leagues. Our competitive league is run on Monday nights and is suitable for experienced players. Our recreational league is run on Wednesday nights and is suitable for beginners and those players who need to work on improving their basic volleyball skills.

Squash

  • Squash at the YMCA is a growing sport. We currently have an active squash program which includes players of all skill levels. Registration for the ladder is free and can be done at the YMCA.

Martial arts

Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (Ninjitsu)

  • This Japanese art covers the teaching of nine ancient martial art schools to provide effective self-defence, danger awareness/avoidance, and personal development. Instruction by a Roku Dan (6th degree black belt).

SWIM PROGRAMS

The YMCA offers a broad range of swim programs for all ages and abilities. The National YMCA Aquatic Program is the core of our instructional swim program and includes: Pre-School Water orientation, Youth and Adult Learn-to-Swim, and Advanced programs that encompass Lifesaving, Leadership, Kayaking, and Synchronized swimming.
